American Business Women’s Association – Top Ten Business Women of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dallas, Texas – October 16, 2009 – The American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) named Lorie L. Burch, a Dallas estate planning attorney, one of the Top Ten Business Women of the Year. The Top Ten Business Women of ABWA is a national program that honors 10 outstanding members of ABWA for achieving excellence in career, education and community involvement. At thirty-two, Lorie is one of the youngest ABWA members to receive this award.

Lorie Burch is the owner and attorney of the Law Office of Lorie L. Burch, PC in Dallas, Texas, which focuses on estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and probate. Incorporated in 2008, she opened her own law practice in 2004, and reports that starting her own business has been the most rewarding professional experience, both as an attorney and business owner.

“ABWA is a wonderful organization that focuses on career advancement and personal development of women. When I first joined ABWA I was a little guarded regarding my participation and leadership throughout so many different communities. However, with being honored as one of its Top Ten Women nationwide for personal and professional accomplishments, including working with the Human Rights Campaign, the Plano Chamber of Commerce, and a diverse client-base, I’ve learned that ABWA is an organization that embraces achievement and diversity for all of its members.”

Lorie currently serves as the Political Co-Chair of the DFW Human Rights Campaign Steering Committee, resides on the Board of the North Texas GLBT Chamber, is the Director of the Business Exchange Network II, and is the President-Elect of ABWA’s Express Network of Dallas, Texas. In 2008, she was honored as the North Texas GLBT Chamber’s Business Person of the Year, and in 2009 was chosen to speak on a Continuing Legal Education Panel during the Texas State Bar Annual Meeting in June.

Dallas attorney, Lorie Burch said, “I am overwhelmed by this accomplishment. When I first started my practice focused on estate planning, I had no idea whether I could build a business or be a leader in the community. I believe I have so much more to accomplish and do in this world, but this award has opened my eyes and taught me that we all achieve moments of success that we need to rejoice in at that time, even if we aren’t yet where we feel we are meant to be. For me, this is one of those moments and I’m so very grateful and humbled by this honor.”
